EN: The last of the photos from our much too short holiday in Thailand in January (the rest of the pics are here and here, if you wanna see them):
Job 2 Do – Doo Doo Doo – era hitul local /// EN: the local hit song.
Am avut o camera foarte draguta (SeaView Patong Hotel in Phuket): din balcon coboram direct in piscina (de asta ma si aflu in pozele de mai jos in piscina, pentru ca altfel nu sunt deloc fan, ba chiar ma deprima):
EN: We had a wonderful room (we stayed at SeaView Patong Hotel in Phuket): from the balcony we climbed down directly into the pool:
EN: We looked into each other’s eyes and whispered sweet nothings… (me and and the decor turtle, I mean). By me. (Yes, I’m that good, I know!)
EN: Means of transport in Thailand: we loved the Tuk Tuk and next time we’ll definitely try transportation by elephant.

In ianuarie am fost o saptamana in Thailanda.
EN: In January my husband and I spent a week in Thailand. It was our first winter sun holiday and I thought the whole thing seemed a bit unreal before I actually got there, not to mention that I was a little freaked out by the long flight (it took us 24 hours to get there, because of a 7 hour stop in Qatar). In the end it turned out to be the best holiday we’ve had so far and I’d happily fly for 2 days straight (and I smoke; a lot!) just to go back there!
EN: We stayed in Patong (Phuket Island), but today’s pics are from a speedboat trip to several other islands/ beaches:
EN: My favourite one was Bamboo Island, which had the most wonderfully turquoise water I’ve ever seen and bamboo leaves in the sand.
(P.S. In Marea Andaman nu sunt rechini. Sau cel putin asa ni se spune… [ras diabolic]):
EN: Below – Phi Phi Island: you’ve probably seen this photo many times before and already know that it’s where the movie “The Beach” (with Leonardo DiCaprio) was filmed. I was a little nervous, but I didn’t run into any mean sharks :) (that’s what I remember most about that movie). (P.S. There are no sharks in the Andaman Sea. Or at least that’s what we are told…*evil laugh*):

Rochie de matase cu franjuri Traffic People (este inca in stoc) /// EN: Traffic People Prairie Tease silk dress with fringes (still available);
(Apropo de impiedicat, in rochia asta eram imbracata cand am cazut in Sorrento.
EN: This Traffic People dress was a last minute purchase before my summer holiday. As I’ve been obsessing for some time over anything 1920’s-related, I was irresistibly drawn to the tassels, even though they are about the only element reminiscent of the period’s fashion. As you can see, however, this didn’t stop me from trying some Charleston-inspired dancing moves (well…they are Charleston-inspired in my head!). (This is also the dress I was wearing when I tripped and fell in Sorrento. And not for one moment do I regret saving the dress instead of myself. Because she’s worth it!)
The Ash wedge sandals have been the most worrisome purchase in my online shopping career so far, because despite extensive research, I couldn’t decide for the life of me what size to order (38 or 39, my real size being 38,5). I ended up ordering size 39 and even though I was sure I was going to have to send them back (I’m a great optimist :D!), they turned out to be alright. So the size is good, the colour is just what I wanted (the perfect “nude” for my tanned skin), the only complaint is that the leather isn’t as soft as I’d have expected from sandals that weren’t cheap at all by my standards. All in all, I think I will be ordering again from Spartoo, especially since as far as I understand they offer free returns (I haven’t tested it yet, but I hope I’m right!) – which is a big deal, since returning shoes by mail can be pretty expensive.
Rochia care mi se pare ca seamana cu un norisor diafan :D, in varianta fara blitz/ cu blitz (cu blitz arata rochiile si pozele in general mai bine, fara blitz, eu. Alegerea este DRAMATICA!!!!)
EN: I think this dress looks just like an ethereal little cloud :D. You can see it both without and with flash – the flash version makes the dresses and the photos in general look better, while the no flash one makes me look better, I think. The choice is always heart-breaking!!!
EN: A while ago I used this Warehouse dress in a collage with Capri as a background and probably the only person that was convinced to buy it was myself (I’m a manipulative little b**?!, aren’t I :D?). Unfortunately it’s not very user-friendly, because you always have to pay attention to the sequins (it’s not very clear in the photos, but the top part is covered in giant silver sequins), which tend to twist and break quite easily. This means you can’t wear it with a bag that has a shoulder strap, which is a problem for me since I find clutches pretty uncomfortable. But hey, in the end it’s not such a biggy, even if all the sequins do fall of, there will still be a nice silk dress left underneath.
The sandals are the beige version of these ones. Even though the snake-effect upper makes them less of a nude colour than the Ash wedges, they are definitely more comfortable, so I think this trip to Santorini was the beginning of a beautiful friendship for us.
EN: Even though it’s practically shapeless, this dress is one of my absolute favourites: it’s got summery colours, it’s super comfortable and it doesn’t crease in my suitcase – dress perfection, that’s what I say!
Rochie de matase cu spatele gol See by Chloe (Fashion Days) /// EN: See by Chloe silk backless dress with star print (Starry Night Blue Silk Dress).
Stiu, excentric de-a dreptul :D!).
EN: Unlike my holiday in Sorrento, this time I was a lot more dedicated to documenting my outfits (except for the last evening when I was feeling too lazy and sad about leaving to pose prettily for the camera). My intentions were good, the outcome… not so much: photos taken at night are hardly good quality and the background is…fascinatingly original. (The balcony, wow, what a revolutionary idea! And there was even an evening when we didn’t use the balcony as a location!!! How eccentric of us!). So we’d better keep the holidays coming, because we sure can use the practice, that’s what I say!

Rochie/ Dress: Liquorish(Asos)
Cand in cele din urma i-am gasit, s-a oprit si vantul, bineinteles.
3. Feriti-va de magarusi! Dupa ziua petrecuta in Fira un film horror in vizunea mea ar putea fi descris astfel: “Stradute inguste….Convoiuri de magarusi bine hraniti…Teroarea nu a fost niciodata mai urecheata! Buhuhuuuu!” (sau “Iha…iha…” – dar spus intr-un fel infricosator :D).
EN: This year I was lucky enough to spend my birthday in Santorini, where my husband and I went for a week at the beginning of September.
We stayed at the beach, in Kamari, but on my birthday we visited Fira, the island’s capital. This is where we took the (many) photos in this post.
I don’t think I need to say it’s beautiful. What I can do however is offer some precious advice based on my own painful experience:
1. The wind is pretty strong (as you can see from the state of my hair), so wearing your hair down may not be such a great idea. Neither is a dress that is easily blown up by the wind. Nobody warned me, so I was one of the few women in Fira wearing a dress and the only one as far as I could tell wearing this kind of dress. BAD IDEA: I spent a lot of time looking for some kind of shorts to wear under the dress, so that the innocent passers-by would be less horrified when the wind blew the dress over my head. Of course, when I did finally manage to find the darned shorts, the wind stopped.
2. Don’t try to wear heels: the cobble stones must have been put there by someone who hates women and the sloping streets don’t help at all. (I did witness some unfortunate attempts at heel wearing and let me tell you, it wasn’t pretty!). Fortunately I was well prepared in this department thanks to a reconnaissance mission on the previous evening: after 10 minutes of risking my life in high wedges, I came to the conclusion that life is worth living after all and switched to the flats I had wisely brought along.
3. Stay away from the donkeys! After the day we spent in Fira, a horror movie that would really get to me could be described like this: “Narrow streets…Well-fed donkeys…The terror has never had bigger ears! Hee-haw…hee-haw!” (with the “hee-haw” uttered in a very frightening way :D).
EN: I may be smiling in the pic above, but inside…I’m crying: I had just escaped unharmed from the first donkey convoy, but what my husband couldn’t see was that a second convoy was getting closer…and closer…and CLOSER…The peril was even greater this time as one of the donkeys suddenly decided to change places with his friend or relative in front of him, thus making the risk of collision with me (and the other tourists) almost imminent. Luckily the tourist behind whom I was hiding (and who kept saying “This is SO EXCITING!!!”) bravely managed to change the donkey’s course. And so I lived to tell the tale.

Desi hotelul in care am stat in vacanta din iulie era in Sorrento, jumatate din timp ne-am petrecut-o de cealalta parte a muntelui, in Positano, care este absolut superb.
EN: Although the hotel where we stayed during our July holiday was in Sorrento, we spent half the time across the mountain, in Positano, which is absolutely amazing.
EN: Our fiirst visit, however, didn’t allow us to see Positano at its best, as it was very cloudy (ok, it wasn’t terrible either :D)…:
EN: And it wasn’t warm summer rain either, it was a nasty, cold, October-like downpour that lasted till the following day. In fact it seems it was the only rainy day that the Amalfi Coast experienced during this summer. So if you live in an area affected by drought or you’ve simply had enough of good weather, feel free to contact me for extremely effective rain conjuring services :D.
Am putea numi aceasta poza “Vicii pe plaja Arienzo” (sticla de votca era sub masuta :D):
EN: We could call this masterpiece of photography “Vices on Arienzo beach” (the vodka bottle was under the table :D):Deci…vizitati Positano daca aveti ocazia. E tare frumos!
EN: So, what more can I say, do vist Positano if you get the chance. It really is a beautiful place!
