EN: If you are a fellow fan of the flapper/ 20’s style trend, I think you may be just as excited as I am about this tassels dress from French Connection.
My favourite thing about it is the colour (it looks red to me, but they call it pink), because as far as I’ve noticed most 20’s/ flapper style dresses out there are black, grey or nude and I much prefer more vibrant colours.

EN: If I were to be really picky (which I am :)) and find a flaw with this dress, it’s the fact that it’s not backless. My vision of a perfect flapper dress is something like this (but in a completely different colour, because I hate this sickly shade of yellow which flatters no skin tone in my opinion):

asos beaded flapper dress mixAsos Salon Beaded Flapper Dress with cut-out back – you can see it here, but it’s been out of stock for ages;

EN: Now back to the French Connection dress – I still haven’t told you the best part (for me, that is :)): it’s on its way to my closet, yey! (I’m wearing it here).
I’d noticed it on the FC website at the beginning of the season, but it was 200£ then – much too much in my opinion for a high street brand dress that is made of viscose. The sale came however and the dress was reduced first to 100£ and then to the current do-able 48,5£. I made the purchase decision on the spot, following a phone consultation with my mom (who also bought it for me as a present for my upcoming name day – it’s actually only a middle name nobody uses, but hey, as long as it gives my loved ones a reason to buy me presents right at the beginning of the January sale…).

EN: You can see below what I think may have been the inspiration for this French Connection dress. It’s “a tad” more expensive, 1116€ (reduced from 3190€) because it’s Lanvin, but I still like the “cheap” version better:

EN: Since we’re on the subject of flapper dresses, here are two others that are currently on sale:

warehouse flapper dressWarehouse backless 20’s deco style Hot Fix Tie Back Dress with stud and jewel embellishment and dropped waist – 45€ here;

EN: I ordered this one during an Asos Savvy Sunday and then, when the black version was available on the Warehouse website at a friendly sale price, I ordered it from there as well (unfortunately the black dress is currently out of stock). I’d always preferred the black version, but Asos have never had it and the plan was to return the grey one from Asos; however I think it got lost on the way, because it should have arrived a long time ago, so now I can ask them for a refund.

The black dress, on the other hand, did arrive safe and sound (the poor little thing spent Christmas in a DHL warehouse in Brussels and NYE in one in Buharest) and I totally love it: it’s very well made and extremely comforable due to the elastic waist and loose top part. I intend to have it shortened though (not because it’s necessarily too long – I’m 1,70m and size 10 falls a little above the knee –, but because I think my legs look better in shorter lenghts) and it’s not going to be an easy thing to do because of the studs around the hem, but I hope it’ll turn out alright.

EN: I like this one too (the open back gets me every time!) and I definitely would have bought it had it not been for the French Connection dress; I do have a little doubt however regarding the colour, which I think may make it a little tricky to find the right kind of tights (the best option, of course, would be to wear it with bare legs, but I tend to associate polyester dresses with the cold season and prefer silk and cotton for summer).
