Review: Zara Wooden Wedge Sandals

EN: I’m a HUGE fan of wedges (which I find to be the perfect compromise – if there is such a thing :D – between flattering footwear and shoes you can actually walk in), so I’m always on the hunt for the perfect pair. The perfect PAIRS to be more exact, because what I’m actually obsessed with is nude sandals and nude for bronzed skin is quite a different thing from nude for pre-summer holidays skin.

Yesterday I tried on these Zara wooden wedges in one of the local Zara stores and they do make your feet look good: it’s a high wedge (13,3 cm/ 5,24 inches), the colour is pretty (the perfect nude shade for my not yet bronzed skin) and the fact that they are a sort of hybrid between wedges and high heeled sandals makes them a bit more elegant and delicate a classic wedge. Plus they’re leather – which for me is sort of a must when it comes to shoes.

The CON is that they aren’t as comfortable as I would like to for a pair of sandals that I plan to walk in: they don’t seem to offer enough stability – it’s the combined fault of the rigid wooden sole (which I tend to avoid, even though I love the look of it) and of the ankle strap which makes me feel that I could fall off them at any time (plus it could mean swollen feet – especially if you make it too tight for fear of falling :D).

So in the end it was a NO for me, but if you like them, here they are on the UK Zara website, where you can buy them for 60£.
